Kenney on democratic institutions

29Apr09

Maclean’s interviewed Jason Kenney, and I got a few lines in when I saw a funny little quotation. Referring to new Canadians’ knowledge of our country’s history, Kenney said:

Well, heck, if you look at polling data—there’s a massive historical amnesia about the Canadian past, and massive gaps of knowledge about our parliamentary institutions, our democratic procedures.

What does he think of Canadians who disagreed with him about democratic procedures last November and December? Do they have the same “massive gaps of knowledge” as immigrants? Food for thought.
